Urban Mission is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scholarships for young adults of color to access global experiences.

Go Global Scholarships

We raise funds to disperse to racial and ethnic minority groups to engage in global experiences. The scholarship program provides support to young adults aged 18-26 with limited financial means to participate in an educational and immersive comprehensive experience through traveling abroad with their school, our field partner organization, or a hosted trip by Urban Mission.

Why It Matters

Urban Mission seeks to address the lack of representation of minority students studying abroad and accessing global experiences. Racial and ethnic minority groups have consistently been underrepresented when it comes to cross-culture exposure. For instance, according to NAFSA, only 6.1% African American, 8.4% Asian/Pacific Islander, and 10.6% Hispanic/Latinx study abroad. We believe cross-culture education through global experiences inspires our racial and ethnic communities to think bigger and seek greater opportunities to have otherwise felt unreachable. Traveling abroad increases employment opportunities and representation in a historically monochrome space.

Global Projects

We are dedicated to providing opportunities for diverse communities to engage in global projects by volunteering their time and/or donating financially.

"I believe it's essential to provide opportunities for young adults of color that are economically marginalized to travel abroad and immerse themselves in cross-cultural learning and engagement. Traveling, learning, and gaining global experiences broadens ways of thinking, ignites personal growth, and opens up the mind to possibilities never imagined prior." Founder, Benjamin Vazquez
